Kitchen on San Marco now open in Jacksonville

The newest addition to Jacksonville's vibrant restaurant scene is Kitchen on San Marco, which opens its doors April 1. The gastropub-inspired eatery serves contemporary American food and offers an extensive selection of craft beers and an expansive wine list.
"I am thrilled about the opening of Kitchen on San Marco," says Eve Markowicz, general manager. "We plan to offer the residents of Jacksonville a new casual lunch and dinner spot, post-work drink location and an exciting menu of inventive gastropub fare."
Kitchen on San Marco supports Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College. While the kitchen is run by experienced executive chefs, the restaurant also serves as a training ground for Culinard students and grads. In addition to gaining practical, real-world restaurant experience, students learn the value of sustainability, seasonal ingredients and creating relationships with local suppliers.
The restaurant is committed to farm-to-table, with all dishes incorporating fresh, regional, seasonal and sustainable foods. Locally sourced ingredients will allow chefs to provide patrons with fresh, bright flavors of the region. Some of the local and regional vendors include Anson Mills, Southeastern Family Farms, Benton's Smoky Mountain Country Hams, French Pastry, Blue Sky Farms, Sweet Grass Dairy, Bacon's Select Produce and Winter Park Dairy.
Tennessee-native Ryan Randolph is Kitchen on San Marco's Executive Chef, and a firm believer in farm-to-table. Chef Randolph discovered the value of sustainable living at an early age on his family's farm. After completing his education, Randolph moved to Chattanooga and worked as a sous chef at Hennen's, Alleia and St. John's Meeting Place under James Beard award-nominee Chef Daniel Lindley. When preparing a menu, Randolph's inspiration comes from ingredients that are currently available from the season and his commitment to supporting local farmers.
Located in the San Marco historic district at 1402 San Marco Blvd., Kitchen on San Marco serves lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday until midnight.
