Culinard and Kitchen on George to host Wine Dinner with Food Network host Chef Ben Vaughn

Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College in Mobile, and Kitchen on George restaurant will host a dinner directed by Food Network star Chef Ben Vaughn Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013.
Vaughn, who is host of the Food Network's television show "Health Inspectors," and this year's World Food Championships in Las Vegas, will direct Culinard students in preparing a four-course dinner. The event will be held at Kitchen on George in the historic Oakleigh neighborhood.
Kitchen on George is located at 351A George St. in Mobile. Tickets are $35 ($50 with wine) and can be reserved by calling (251) 436-8890.
Chef Vaughn will direct students of Culinard in preparing a menu that will include:
Amuse Bouche: Tomato Salad–Peeled Summer Tomatoes, Brulee Feta cheese, Brussel Sprouts, smart flour Shortbread Cookie Croutons and Burton's maple Gastrique
Course 1: Maple Leaf Farms Duck Confit, Barely Smoked Wild Mushroom Ragout, Creamy Low Country Grits, Thyme Pan Jus
Course 2: Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast with Duck Bacon Marmalade, Sweet Potato Dauphinoise, Farmers Market Ratatouille
Course 3: Peach Cobbler–Warm Peach Compote, Griddled Brioche, Clotted Cream, Maple Leaf Farms Duck Rendered Caramel, Salted Duck Crackling
